Notes from Cherbourg
An update from Musetta, sharing our time here in Port Chantereyne and catching up with friends
We arrived here in Cherbourg late on Wednesday having had a wonderful sail up from Honfleur, attached photo shows how Musetta fairly romped along in the perfect conditions.
We tend to consider Cherbourg our ‘home’ port in France just because we have been here so often and so it’s very familiar! The largest cruise liner in the world was also here, “Harmony of the Seas”, and she is truly ginormous! She left here on Friday evening amid great fanfare, an amazing sight as she dwarfed all around her. Then she disappeared almost immediately into thick fog!
We’ve had lots of visitors, mainly our French friends for aperitifs and meals on board. It has been great to catch up with them especially Isabelle and Olivier who have returned to France for the summer having left their boat in Martinique, Caribbean for the hurricane season.
With the weekend upon us, Port Chantereyne filled up with boats, mainly from England making the most of the weather for the bank holiday and having planned a mini cruise in this area. Some going to the Channel Islands and others going to the picturesque port of St Vaast, east of Cherbourg. The atmosphere has been one of party time with many of the yachts here as part of a rally.
We have also had the chance to catch up on some boat jobs which we left to do once we had left our mooring on the Hamble.
