23rd September – Back home for two weeks!
We left Port la Forêt at the crack of dawn on Friday 23rd to make the three hour car journey up to St Malo to catch the ferry back to Portsmouth and as we left the port and headed north towards the Channel Islands we came across this…..
How weird is that boat, it looked like something out of James Bond? I was trying to remember where I had seen it recently?! It came to me eventually, I had seen a photo of it in the Telegraph when it was moored alongside HMS Belfast on the river Thames.
The boat is one of the world’s most famous super (motor) yachts known as Motor Yacht A, and is owned by Russian billionaire Andrey Melnicenko. The yacht, which cost £225m is 119 metres long and boasts three pools and seven luxurious cabins, is reportedly up for sale while Andrey and his Serbian wife, a former model and pop singer have already commissioned an even grander Sailing Yacht A from the same designer Philippe Starck.
Our trip back to Portsmouth was exceedingly smooth and before we knew it we had our first glimpse of Blighty, which was in glorious sunshine, so different from when we left the last time!
Our wake and the Isle of Wight
We are home now for two weeks for Alan to attend meetings and for me to see as many of my family and friends as I can fit in!
